Doing Youth Development Differently
LOCAL, HUMAN CENTERED DESIGN APPROACHES
YouthPrep is an initiative of the Cloneshouse Foundation for African Development, whose mission is to create 1 million decent jobs for young people in Nigeria by 2035. The Cloneshouse Foundation for African Development is a youth-led not-for-profit organization that delivers human-centred design solutions to youth development, civil society strengthening, leadership and organizational development. Structurally, it is led by five boards of trustees, five managerial staff, and 49 international development experts.
Cloneshouse Foundation for African Development has five years of experience delivering youth-focused programmes in Nigeria and supporting the Federal Ministry of Youth Development. As part of its youth-focused programmes, YouthPrep delivers leadership, employability, and entrepreneurship context-specific interventions for underrepresented young people between the ages of 18 and 35 in Nigeria.
Incredible, Unique Specialists
EXTENSIVE EXPERIENCE IN YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
In line with youth unemployment trends, a large share of young women and men in Nigeria fall within the category of not in employment, education, or training (NEET). Thus, our team comprises individuals with extensive experience in human-centred design methodologies. Focusing on young people’s NEET needs, desires, and experiences ensures that our solutions are effective, sustainable, and impactful. Through empathetic engagement and co-creation sessions with youth populations, we gain valuable insights that inform the design and implementation of our programs and initiatives.
We Value Partnerships
LOOKING FOR PARTNERSHIPS? WE HAVE YOU COVERED!
We believe in the power of collaboration and actively partnering with local hubs, youth communities, government agencies, NGOs, and corporate entities to amplify our impact. By forging strategic alliances, we leverage resources, expertise, and networks to create sustainable change and maximize our reach. In Ogun, Lagos, and Kano states, where we have launched YouthPrep, we are working with state-based youth groups and hubs passionate about providing decent jobs to young people.
In the past five years, we have worked with the Federal Ministry of Youth and the International Labour Organization to design and review the Youth Employment Action Plan and develop its monitoring and evaluation framework. Similarly, we have worked with the GIZ SEDIN program Phase I and II to strengthen program implementers’ capacity in Ogun, Plateau, Lagos and Edo States.
